About Us

The ASCE Georgia Younger Members Group (ASCE GA YMG) is a place for young civil engineers around the Atlanta area and beyond to connect with their peers. The YMG provides career development for engineers younger than 35 years old. We focus on integrating new graduates into the professional community and providing young professionals with opportunities for leadership and professional development. We also strive to give back to our community through our volunteering and outreach programs and serve as a voice to promote civil engineering to the public.

101 Seminars
The Younger Member Group hosts a virtual Speaker Series on the last Thursday of every month at noon! This includes a ‘Principal Series’ with technical and leadership oriented talks from principals, a ‘Younger Member Series’ which gives opportunities for young engineers to present on their work, and a ‘Non-technical Series’ with talks on various life skills. Sign up for our Newsletter for the monthly zoom registration link and see the calendar for upcoming Series topics!

Communications Club
We are excited to announce our new initiative: Communications Club!
As we progress in our careers, more and more responsibility is bestowed upon us. The Younger Member Group will begin hosting a Communications Club, giving members the opportunity to become more comfortable speaking to peers and allowing members to practice presenting and hosting meetings!

Outreach

Community Service
Community Service projects that we have done in the past range include Habitat for Humanity builds, Trees Atlanta tree plantings, volunteering at food banks etc. Check out the events section to find out where our next event is!

K-12 STEM Outreach
We partner with local schools, educators and organizations to introduce students to the world of STEM through curriculum support and hands on learning. If you love teaching and working with students and are interested in volunteering with us, please email Jennifer Young at Jennifer.Young@atkinsglobal.com.

Diversity Task Force
For promoting diversity in the industry, we recently started a Diversity Task Force under the Outreach Committee whose objective is to “promote diversity in our industry through targeted STEM outreach to underrepresented communities”. The projects undertaken by the task force include conducting ASCE organized STEM Competitions, Job Shadow and mentorship programs, providing resources and support for other local STEM competitions and collaboration with local non-profits working with these communities such as Girls Inc, Global Village Project, La Amistad, and Devereux.
If you’re interested in joining this task force, please email Rosa Santillan at rsantillan@longeng.com.
