The Northeast Georgia Branch of the Georgia ASCE is active and engaged in meeting the needs of technical professionals of the area. We typically meet the 3rd Thursday of each month (except July and December). Check the ASCE Georgia Section Calendar for upcoming meeting details.

Location – The NEGA ASCE Branch is currently holding meetings by Zoom only.

Price, Registration, and PDH – The monthly meetings provide 1 professional development credit (PDH). Certificates will be provided to individuals who need them.  Currently, meetings are free during the time of online zoom meetings.

The Northeast Georgia Branch actively supports local area robotics programs and the UGA ASCE student chapter. The branch organizes and delivers a PDH Day each December where attendees can receive up to 7 professional development hours. Proceeds from this event support a branch scholarship program for aspiring civil engineering students.

President Joey Leslie, P.E., P.L.S. Click Here to Contact Mr. Leslie worked for Leslie and Associates, Inc. in Cedar City, Utah for over 10-years. Mr. Leslie became the Authority Engineer for the Jackson County Water and Sewerage Authority in 2012. He maintains licenses as a PE, SE, and PLS in numerous states. He has a Civil Engineering BS Degree from Utah State University, and an MBA Degree from Georgia College.
Vice President Stephan Durham, Ph.D., P.E. Click Here to Contact Stephan is Assistant Dean for Student Success and Outreach and Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Georgia College of Engineering. Stephan was recognized as the 2014 Engineer of the Year in Education by the Georgia Engineering Alliance and received the 2016 Engineer of the Year Award from the Georgia Section of ASCE.
Secretary Mi Geum Chorzepa, Ph.D., P.E. Click Here to Contact Mi is an associate professor in Civil Engineering (w/ Structures expertise) at the University of Georgia. She serves a leadership role for technical committees such as ACI-ASCE 447 and PCI-CMT. She and her students have led numerous research projects funded by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Treasurer S. Sonny Kim, Ph.D., P.E. Click Here to Contact Sonny is an Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Georgia College of Engineering. Sonny was recognized as the 2021 Georgia Engineer of the Year. He is a member of ASCE’s Geo-Institute Pavement Committee and T&DI Highway Pavement Committee.
