Northeast Georgia Branch

The Northeast Georgia Branch of the Georgia ASCE is active and engaged in meeting the needs of technical professionals of the area. We typically meet the 3rd Thursday of each month (except July and December). Check the ASCE Georgia Section Calendar for upcoming meeting details.

Location – Ryan’s Family Restaurant, 1021 Dowdy Rd., Athens, GA 30606

Price, Registration, and PDH – The monthly meetings provide 1 professional development credit (PDH). Certificates can be provided individuals who need them. The cost of the meeting is $15 ($5 for students) and includes lunch. You may pay at the meeting with cash or check (payable to ASCE – Northeast Georgia Branch). Lunch is served buffet style at Ryan’s.

The Northeast Georgia Branch actively supports Mathcounts and the UGA ASCE student chapter. We have also set a goal of developing a scholarship for aspiring civil engineering students.

Past President Stephan Durham, PE, Ph.D [email protected] Stephan is Assistant Dean for Student Success and Outreach and Associate Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Georgia College of Engineering. Stephan was recognized as the 2014 Engineer of the Year in Education by the Georgia Engineering Alliance and received the 2016 Engineer of the Year Award from the Georgia Section of ASCE.
President Santosh Ghimire, Ph.D. [email protected] Santosh is an ORISE Postdoctoral Research Participant at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development in Athens, GA.
Vice President Nathan Hester, PE [email protected] Nathan is the Associate Engineer for the Jackson County Water and Sewerage Authority. Nathan received the 2016 Young Engineer of the Year Award from the Georgia Section of ASCE.
Secretary Kyle Webb, PE [email protected] Kyle is a Senior Civil Engineer and project manager for Breedlove Land Planning, Inc.  Kyle has over 9 years of experience in land development which has been primarily focused on erosion control and stormwater managment design.
Treasurer Jason Christian, PE, Ph.D [email protected] Jason is an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia College of Engineering with areas of expertise in hydrology and analysis of reliability and interdependence of infrastructure systems.
